Not only the emissions reduction potential of replacing diesel school buses is significant, but it can also improve children’s health and provide economic benefits by boosting local energy providers. Through a coordinated effort, we are investing $800K to support a diverse group of Canadian organizations that are working towards the goal of getting more electric school buses on the road.
Accelerating adoption of electric vehicles in Nova Scotia
In Nova Scotia, EV adoption lags behind other jurisdictions across North America. The high incremental cost of EVs and the limited availability of EVs locally continue to limit the market growth in the province. By convening local stakeholders, conducting government relations work and leading advocacy efforts for a Zero Emissions Vehicle mandate, this project aims to overcome the barriers to EV adoption. The success of this work has been demonstrated by the recent adoption of a new ZEV mandate by the Nova Scotian government in fall 2021.
